The talented fashion designer Angel Chen  has crossover every aesthetic barrier between East and West with a powerful chromatic roulette the past September when presenting the upcoming Spring/Summer collection named “Tiger and Rose” at the Museo nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan.

RED – Passion

Graduated from the Central Saint Martins College of London and chosen by i-D as one of five designers-to-watch, Angel Chen founded her homonym label with two strong tags: unisex clothing and chromatic saturation. After moving from her native Shenzhen in China to study in London at the age of 17 she never expected to be trapped in a lucky streak and in a fast-growing successful present, she was also named by Forbes as part of the “30 under 30” in 2016 and the past year was selected to be part of the “500” from Business of Fashion. Chen is part of a new wave of young Chinese designers making an impact locally and globally.

“Tiger and Rose”, as mentioned before, is the latest collection presented by the designer and it was inspired by the alluring words of a modern poet, Siegfried Sassoon – “In me the tiger sniffs the rose” as allegory of the designer’s philosophy – Life is a cruel battlefield but can also be a garden full of roses. As an envision, the designer has visualized a modern Noah’s Ark to communicate her attitude towards life; the main passengers were crocodiles, tigers, leopards and dragonflies (to mention some) blending the collection as an artistic and modern representation of the high-end streetwear and the cultural spirit of South-East Asia.

PINK – Love

Scarlet red, bright yellow and nude pale pink were some colors chosen to march in the chromatic field built by Chen. A strong impact created by the label now well-known for the use of innovative fabrics and exuberant colors which, in turn, bring some auguries for this new year that has just started.
