In September I got to see The Killers live, ahead of the release of their new Album „Wonderful Wonderful“ in the Live Music Hall, a small venue in Cologne, Germany.
The American rock band around frontman Brandon Flowers normally fills big stadiums on their tour, which made this a very special and intimate concert.
When Brandon Flowers hit the stage, the band started right away with their new single „ The Man“, that got the crowd pumped from the first minute on. He’s wearing a glittery blazer, a reference to their iridescent hometown Las Vegas, Nevada, wich reflected the powerful light show altogether.
Fans from the first minute on shouldn’t be disappointed. „Smile Like You Mean It“ and „Somebody Told Me“, hit songs from their first album, found their place in the setlist as well as many other known songs from the bands other albums. When they played their latest single „Run For Cover“, the crowd couldn’t hold back and even the last person in the back of the venue started dancing.
There weren’t many monologues between the songs, except one story of Brandon’s first time seeing the Cologne Cathedral and being overwhelmed by it’s historic background, being from Las Vegas, a city where the historic district is from the 1960s. The almost to powerful show for the small venue ended with one of their biggest hits „Mr. Brightside“ and sent everyone home with a more than satisfied vibe.
Their World Tour „Wonderful Wonderful“ starts with concerts from November 6th, 2017 in the UK and will come back to Europe in February/March 2018 with stadiums shows, I highly recommend.
